An Ode to Orange

So, whilst trying brew up yet another storm on the post front, I decided to do a bit of 'research', if you will. It's been made more than obvious a few times around here that orange is my pet fave on the old colour wheel, but what does it mean? Well, thanks to Google we can all find out - I was pleasantly surprised.

'Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.'

Phew, that's a pretty extensive list of nouns. All sound good to me! Did they mention the tropics? *Forever dreaming*. Orange is a go, it's time to share some of my top beauty picks dedicated to this stunner of a colour. I'll give you the low-down on a few prods among this fabulous selection of the 'best hued' whilst trying to stick to those that haven't had their Editor in the Making debut just yet - nobody likes a spotlight hog. The orange exterior isn't the only winning property in this assortment, (I'm not that shallow) these tools, tints and tubes have all the right stuff going on inside as well.

Benefit's Coralista is the easiest blush to use in a rush. With such a gorgeous, shimmering peach tinge, it not only adds colour to the face but acts as a highlighter simultaneously. Score. Somehow, Benefit have managed to go the extra few miles and paired it with lovely packaging and a pleasantly surprising scent. This one is a must-have for those who aren't too sure about the whole 'blush' thing and may be a bit fearful of ending up with clown cheeks. Never fear, Coralista gives the perfect amount of warmth to the skin without be too O.T.T.

Now, there's a reason why I don't talk haircare too often….I really don't bother with it. My beauty encyclopaedia unfortunately doesn't delve into the realm of balms and leave-ins, or hair masks and tools. I feel like haircare is a bit of a nuisance and when all the bottles start to accumulate in my bathroom, I find myself chucking out lots of unloved goop and questioning why I bothered in the first place. However, Herbal Essence's smooth lovin' serum is the one of many few prods that I like to deem beneficial to my mane. Pretty much, the smell sucked me in - no surprise there. It's fruity, sweet, smells almost drinkable…almost. After washing my hair, I apply this to my damp locks. Just pump a bit onto your hands and then massage it through the ends of your hair - emphasis on the ends as applying it too close to the roots will result in a bit of an oil-slick-of-a-scalp. Blugh. Basically, this makes my hair smell fab, gets rid of annoying frizz and doses up some shine.

Looking for affordable, synthetic-haired, durable brushes that will give a movie-star-esque finish to your face? Look no further, the Real Techniques Core Collection is for you. Infomercial like intro aside, I really couldn't recommend these brushes enough. The whole range can be found in Priceline, though I'm only showcasing the Core Collection for applying foundation, bronzer, blush and concealer.  They really are fabulous tools of the trade and at quite a pleasing cost compared to an alternative like M.A.C. You may be wondering where the 4th member of the Core Collection quartet is - behind my dresser and I'm too lazy to fish it out so I do apologise. Anyway, the large 'buffing brush' is my fave out of this set for making foundation look ever so flawless. Would be lost in the mornings without it!

I've specifically failed to mention a couple of summer-appropraite picks from this edit as they will be making another appearance in the coming month or so. See this as your first glimpse. As we're heading into the warmer months down  under, I'm beginning to heat up some beach-ready posts sure to head your way in time for the next season shift.
